                                                  This vessel is inspired by the Botch (bo-tay) motif also know as the paisley.
                                                  The pattern can be traced back 2000 years BC to ancient Babylon.  The
                                                  teardrop shape was used as a symbol to represent the growing shoot of the
                                                  date palm, which became regarded as the "Tree of Life."  It is also found
                                                  in the ancient Chinese Yin Yang symbol.

                                                  This abstract design is influenced by the Tumboa plant leaves.  Its two
                                                   permanent leaves are unique in the plant kingdom and on this Earth.  They
                                                   are the original leaves from when the plant was a seedling and continue to
                                                   grow and are never shed.  The plant is thought to be a relic from the Jurassic                           
                                                    period with some living specimens over 2,000 years old.

                                                     In this wall sculpture the female dancer is thrusting to be caught by her
                                                     partner.  The Salsa dance is a flirtatious and sensuous fusion of informal
                                                     dance styles from the Caribbean and Latin America.  It takes on a mixture
                                                     of may forms with couples improvising their own moves in a social
                                                     celebration.
